Carolina Cues - Weight Bolt?

I don't know what username the guys over at Carolina Cues post under, so I couldn't send a PM.

Do any of you out there who own a Carolina cue know if they use a weight bolt in their cues? My bumper is screwed in with an Allen screw and I don't have an Allen wrench on hand to take it off. Thanks for the help!

More than likely, the Allen screw that's securing the bumper is threaded into the wght. bolt.

I opened my CC just for u ...

It's 1/8 inch allen wrench screw and it is securing the bumper to a weight bolt with a gigantic phillip screw weight bolt. I didn't unscrew my weight bolt to see the length/weight.

Yes, remove the Allen screw and the bumper. You will find a giant Phillips head underneath. Once you have the Phillips out, you could cut it with a hacksaw to remove some weight. Likewise, you could call us for a longer bolt if needed.

I don't believe you fully understand the answer. A hacksaw will cut the bolt shorter, making it lighter, hence, making the cue lighter, as good as any other device.

I like to dress the ends up on a lathe, but have never had a problem chopping a weight bolt with a hacksaw either. Sometimes custom lenths/weights are needed, and that's a good way to aquire them IMO. Just make sure the start of the threads are not burred up, or It could tear up some of the wood threads.

I have no idea what the weight of the particular one you had weighs but I'm sure they have different lengths and different weights on different cues or else one of the builders, whom you replied to, wouldn't have gave that recommendation to either cut shorter or ask them to send a longer one.
