I have come across a pocketless table and I'm picking it up tomorrow night for $100. I've seen the table, disassembled, and I know it is a Brunswick-Balke-Collender from the metal tag on the end rail and from looking through Brunswick's photos the best I can tell is it might be either a Saratoga or Newport. ANY information on those would be helpful
My initial look at the disassembled table was no major wood damage (typical worn out look), no sign of water damage, slates are in excellent shape IMO (but I'm not a table mech) no chips/flakes, APPEARS to have all hardware. My first question is, is there a one stop shop kind of place for me to get parts for this table? There are 4 or 5 round rail edge 'buttons' on the ends and 8/10 on each side. I think they might be for either rail bolt covers or just decorative, either way, there are several missing and I'm sure when I pick up the table tomorrow and start with my resto, I will find more that is needed. I've seen a few of the Newport and Saratoga pocket tables on ebay with some very high prices, but I'm wondering about the 'no pocket' tables worth. If it is what I think it is...1908-1912 Saratoga or Newport AND it's restored correctly, will it bring the same kind of money as a pocket billiards table?
