Case Question

Anyone know who makes this case?

I am looking for a case that will suit my wife's 55" cue. The butt is three inches shorter than most cues. I am having trouble finding a case that will allow the butt to be removed easily without having to turn the case upside down to get it out.

Maybe a soft case would be the way to go. Anyone have expireience with the silver fox soft cases?

the pics look like an instroke case.

how about getting one of the box cue cases? if yur wife doesnt mind the extra weight, as they are heavier than soft cases.

I own one of these cases, very heavy but nice to get cues in and out with the spring loaded butt sleaves. Problem is they don't accomidate joint protectors too well. I believe they are an Action product, but mine said it was a Lucasi case. I am not sure. The shafts are also easy to get in and out as well. I paid too much for it I do know, having paid 100 and I see them on ebay for 65 with shipping all day long.

I would recommend a Silver Fox soft case. Just poke around the net for one. The box cases are also okay, but the Silver Fox is easier to transport and lighter I think.

The other option is to talk to Mr. Dan Whitten and I am sure he can custom make you a case like I am having made, but be prepared to spend a few dollars.

I've used a Silver Fox BR-2 for years and really like it. The capacity is enormous; cost and weight are low.

Another alternative would be to cut a 3" or so section of dowel that will slide into the tube easily and drop it in for a spacer. JAT

Are the slots that hold the shafts/butts on the BR-2 padded?

the pictures you have there are whats call a "pro series" or "pro line" something like that. i've seen it retail for about 129.00 or so and haven't heard anything positive or negative about it. i believe you can get it right much cheaper over the internet though.

as far as someone mentioning it being a lucasi, thats possible, the company probably makes a case like this and sells it to anyone who then puts their name on it.

thanks

My BR-2 has a leather exterior with a semi-rigid stiffening panel sewn into each side and a plush lining on the inside of the whole case. The envelopes that hold the butts/shafts are nylon, stitched to form tubes, but they are not individually padded. http://www.hawleys.com/SilverFox/SilverFox.htm

I carry 2 Schons and 2 extra shafts and still have room for customer's shafts I pick up for repair work. My case usually travels on the back seat, and I've never had any problems with dings or damage to anything, but it does not provide the "throw it in the trunk" protection of a hard tube case, IMO.

That case is made by J&J. I have one, have used it for about.... oh... three months so far. I really like it. The spring loaded end keeps everything nice and tight so it doesn't rattle around. It's very light weight and WELL worth the money.

I've also had an Instroke case as well, and yes, they are heavy.

Here is where I got mine.

OR,
You could have someone make a long delrin joint protector, and that would solve the problem :D .

At least it would cost less than a new case.

Hmmm. Did not think of that.

Thanks for all the help. I think I am leaning towards J&J case or the Silver Fox soft case.

Thanks again!
