Cataract surgery with standard Medicare lenses, how's your pool game with these

There's no such thing as just near or far with basic cataract lenses. They come in many, many correction powers. There is where the rub lies. My doc screwed up and used the wrong power by quite a bit. After the first eye I questioned them and put off the second eye for a week. I asked if they could re check before doing it. They said no , but they would give me a deal on PRK after wards. I swear they corrected me off just to make more money later.
A couple yrs later my wife needed cataracts and I told our eye doctor we wouldn't go to the person that I did because he was a hack. He was a little upset with that but referred her to this other guy. Her experience was fantastic.

Wow, sounds like a tough deal, I am sorry to hear that.
Thanks. I'm glad to be able to see. Most of the time I can go without glasses. I wear shaded lenses, but they're only 10% tint blue tinted. I was told to wear dark lenses, with wrap arounds......I don't like the blind man look. The bleeds/floaters are really aggravating for the first couple of weeks, then it gets better (alternative is eye injections every 3 months and I hate that needle in my eye).

My older pool playing friend is about to get his second cataract eye surgery done with the standard Medicare lenses that seem to be setup for farther distances and he is concerned about his pool game because of this. Who has had both of their eyes done with these standard lenses and how was your pool game afterwards?

TIA
If I get mine redone in 8 years or so, I might get the fancier lenses.

I had my surgery about 12 years ago. I did not get prescription lenses and just went with a standard lens since it was less expensive and had worn billiard glasses for years so I could always get a xx new prescription.

Well, my surgery turned out great and V my vision is still 20/20 with standard cataract lenses after all these years. It doesn’t happen with everyone but the surgery is really amazing.

Got these a few years ago — they are the nuts for playing pool.

Went from 400 vision and needing contacts to 20/20 in my right and 20/25 in my left. I think they cost me $2K extra per eyeball but totally worth it.

BTW, it also matters who your surgeon is. From what has happened to friends, if you go to a mill, your results are a crap shoot.

Luckily - at 73 - I have uncorrected 20/20 and have not yet needed cataract surgery. As was said, I know several people who have huge vision problems after cataract surgery - some even after paying for the $3K lenses.

So doing the research on your eye surgeon is #1 requirement - some of my friends and my oldest brother just cannot play pool anymore after these botched cataract surgeries.
