Ceb ,is changing the format & cutting tours

The European federation of billiards, the CEB, has decided during the General Assembly in Famagusta (Cyprus) that the large number of European championships will be joined in THE European championship, a top event for all players and all disciplines. The tournament will be organized every two years, starting in 2013. The city of Brandenburg will host the event yearly.

The congress in Famagusta agreed with the proposal of the president,the German Wolfgang Rittmann, who send the new planning of tournaments and games to all federations of the CEB a few weeks ago in order to make some spectacular changes and guarantee the future of billiard.

The most important renovation: the game systems and distances will be standardized internationally and nationally, so the match length will be reduced.
The CEB has informed the federations by mail and will soon spread out the details.

,,The congress of the Confédération Européenne de Billard shows the way for the future of the billiard sport.

For the first time in the long history of billiard sports, game systems and distances will be standardized internationally and nationally, so the match length will be reduced in order to be adapted to modern times and then increased the intensity.

The large number of individual championships will be joined in THE European championship, a top event that will take place every two years from 2012/2013 season ensuring long term stability.

The mayor of Brandenburg, Dr. Dietlind Tiemann, has invited the CEB to implement this event in her city. The offer was accepted by the congress with enthusiasm.

Moreover, the European champioen three cushion under seventeen on small table has been created to promote the youth.
During spring 2013, the top players, youngs and adults, women and men will met in Brandenburg on small and large tables in the first unified European championships.''

Thanks Gilbert. It is gratifying to me every time I read an article promoting a positive future for the billiard sports. I wonder if the changes described will have any influence on billiards here in the US. Promoting youth is something we certainly need to adopt here!

CASTALLA - The news came as a complete, totally unexpected message for players, fans and the whole billiard world. Caseta Nova, the top team with players such as Dani Sánchez, Tayfun Tasdemir, Murat Naci Coklu, Ruben Legazpi and Javier Palazón will no longer exist next season. But Jose Javier Gimeno, the president, makes clear now: ,,There's always a possibility that we make our come back and we will set the doors of Caseta Nova wide open for people who want to enjoy this wonderful sport.''

Only the top team, the number two in Europe, will disappear for some time. ,, We are completely surprised by it,'' Dani Sánchez expressed the feelings of his teammates a few days after the European Cup Final in Schiltigheim. Javier Gimeno, however, says that his passion and enthusiasm for the sport is still there. He just has announced a period in which the top team will no longer participate in competitions.

,, We surely have not extracted from the billiards sport,'' Gimeno makes clear. ,,The wonderful game is a very important aspect in my life, it is my biggest hobby. I'm sure very few people have enjoyed so many hours the game as I have done.''

The billiard sport has not disappointed him, however there were some rumors. ,,It's a sport in which I see people happy, that's the most important, not not my own inner benefits. The billiards sport will always be a passion for my family and me. That's why Nova Caseta will set the doors wide open for people who love to play.''

Gimeno wants to give some small explaniation about the preliminary removal of the top team. ,,Something I must say about the issue, is that our top-class team has suffered from a kind of exhaustation-due to misunderstandings aroused with one member of our team, which requires it to be some time off from professional billiard. However, we will possibly come back as soon as we feel fully enthusiastic again.''
