Ceiling Height For Pool Room

What would be the minimum ceiling height for a 16 to 21 table room? I have been told 12 ft. Is this due to sound levels of balls breaking? I am looking to open a room and looking for information on this topic of ceiling height. Any of my fellow AZer's play in a room with a lower ceiling height?

There is a room owners forum where you will probably get the best advice. If smoking is allowed I much prefer at least a twelve foot ceiling as most of the smoke at least initially rises. Also I recently played in several rooms without the Diamond lights. With bright lights without shrouding, deflectors, or whatever the proper name is, they have to be high enough over the table that they aren't blinding every time someone bends over to shoot. This isn't nearly the issue with the Diamond type lights.

Eight foot ceilings in a hall somehow seem too low even with proper lighting and no smoke. Ten and twelve foot ceilings work but even higher is nice. I like playing in places with sixteen to twenty foot ceilings or no ceiling at all, just the roof high overhead.
