Century within reach.

I play snooker maybe 6 times per year. Based on my performance on Christmas Eve where I scored several breaks in the 50s and one 86 a century is within reach.

I wish I could play more.:frown:

Keep at it!

First step is to make a century in line up. If you can do that, you have the potting potential to make one in a game scenario.

Step two is to learn all of the break building techniques to run all of the reds. These are little nudges on balls while still controling the cue ball, use of side to stay off the rails and keep the right angle, playing position on two or three reds at a time etc.. Of course breaking open the pack off the black is important, but it's helpful to be confident using the blue as well. I would also work on using the yellow and green. There lots more, this is what I can think of off the top of my head.

Be confident shooting the blue off the spot. This will save many breaks from ending early.

One little tip that I got which helped a lot (which applies to all scenarios), if at all possible when shooting the last red play position on the Blue or one of the Baulk colours. It makes for a much easier transition to running out the colours. Your only losing a few points by not going for the black.

Keep on learnin and you'll get the century. It's a lot harder than a 70-80 break only because you generally need all of the reds to complete the century. And there is usually a couple of awkward balls to deal with. I was lucky with my first one, everything was spread so nicely I just needed to push my cue in a straight line 30sumthin times.

I haven't made one since July. I was in a slump most of the year and then I went back to school for my bachelors of education and haven't been able to play. Since the semester finished I've been close, just missing an easy pot where I shouldn't. Oh well, I'll give it a go tomorrow!

Like Cameron said, use line up drills, and keep at it. I've never made a century, and returning from a decade-long hiatus from the game has reignited my desire to make one. See you on the practice table!
