Certified, Pre-owned Predator shafts?

I did a quick search, but I haven't found anything about this. If I missed it, and someone can point me the right direction, I'd appreciate it.

I'm looking for an inexpensive way to get into a Predator shaft to see if I like them. This looks to be a decent way, especially with the 30 day return policy, but I always hesitate to jump at something like this on e-bay.

Does anyone have any experience with the pre-owned shafts, or with this seller?

I have not dealt with this person on eBay.

It looks like a good deal, except for the straightness guarantee. It says "This shaft is guaranteed to be straight, within .10 inch measured in the middle of the shaft." I think that is a pretty big wobble if the shaft you get is .09" off. Predators are supposed to hold up pretty good as far as warping, but you might want to call they guy and verify exactly what you are getting before you make the deal.
 
For what it's worth, I took a shot at one of these. I got the "like new" 314. It arrived today (ordered it yesterday), and it's straight as an arrow, looks great, and can't wait to get it out for a test run.

The folks there were responsive and a pleasure to deal with. That was my experience anyway.

Really just an FYI.
 
You could alway try getting one from one of the more reputable ebayers that sells them. You can try neilson or joerackem or something. I am pretty sure he is probably the cheapest and offer a discount to people for azbilliards and some times free shipping also.
 
A new one is only around $200. Save your money......and buy from an authorized Predator dealer.
 
LOLz @ the straightness guarantee...that's almost 1/8 of inch....

EDIT: I wonder if they're stamped with 'certified pre-owned' on them??

The shaft came in the predator sleeve, and yes, it comes with a sticker/decal that says Certified Preowned. It is straight as an arrow, and has no visible signs of use. I'd definitely buy another from them.

And probably most importantly, there's a 30 day money back gaurantee. You can return the shaft for any reason before 30 days. However, for the $20 difference between like new and "good" or "average," I think it's worth the $20 to eliminate some of the concern about the condition.

Anyway, I'm not sure there's really any reason left to be skeptical. Maybe I got lucky, but based on the seller's feedback, I don't think so.

Well said. Predator offers a 30 day trial period from any authorized dealer. If you try and do not like it, return it but I think there may be a small restocking fee.

ebay is a tricky place.

Agreed, e-bay is a tricky place. The Pool Cue Outlet is an authorized Predator dealer, so no worries about that. The listing clearly states that the 30 day trial period applies to these certified-preowned shafts. On top of that, the store itself offers a 100% refund for unchalked shafts returned within a week I believe.

For me, the roughly $70 I saved was the difference between owning this shaft and not. And like I said, you could have fooled me if you told me this shaft was brand new. I couldn't be happier.

If you want new, then buy new. I'm merely presenting this as an option for those who would rather save 35% and still have all of the benefits, warranties, and gaurantees of a new shaft.
 
This thread needs some clarification.

I'm sure that "soulcatcher's" post contains a typo in that it should read .010" and not .10". Yeah, that's a big difference. None of these shafts will go out with more than .010" run-out, guaranteed. I've checked the eBay listing and it is in error and is being corrected as we speak. The correct allowable run-out on these shafts is .010".

Given Predator's recent price increase, it's pretty difficult to find a new Pred. shaft for under $200. These certified used shafts are being offered at approx. 60% of the price of new and they are in excellent condition. They are perfect for someone wanting to try Predator without having to lay-out a large sum just to try the shaft.

This is taken straight from the listing. .010" is quite a benchmark for any used shaft. That's about 3 human hairs. .10" sounds more like it to me. That's still very impressive for a used shaft(sometimes for new). I see shafts from every conceivable maker and .010" runout is a dream for most.

Well, sometimes dreams do come true.

As in this case, no shaft is sent out that has anything more than .010" run-out, guaranteed.
