Chain of balls reverse spin each ball?

I'm watching Briesath's "A Pool Lesson" DVDs and as a myth buster he said that if you have three frozen balls and hit them with left english (for example), that the spin only transfers to the first ball hit. I was taught that each ball would feel the effect (to a smaller and smaller degree of course).

So, is it true that the spin reverses for each subsequent hit, if the balls are not frozen but merely very close together? I sometimes think that way if "if any amount would help" for a particular shot (e.g., a three ball combo is very close to going).
You can test this yourself very easily to get results. Just shoot the combo into the rail and see how the last ball reacts. The last ball's reaction off the cushion will tell you what type of spin it has.

Yes, Dave has lots of good info on this stuff - but there's nothing in those two vids about hitting a CB frozen against multiple OBs. Do you know where to find that?

I offered this as a response to being able to shoot into a frozen ball or not (my basic understanding is that it is almost impossible to foul if the cue ball is frozen to another ball). You're right in that Dave never addresses multiple balls being frozen.

I just did an unscientific test. The cue ball was not frozen to the three ball combination. I shot at it from an angle and with spin and On the side of the ball that would give it the most throw at a slow speed (this is the best way I know how to apply the most throw)

The third ball would react off the rail from about 10 inches away due to the spin but as soon as I did a four ball combo it would come straight back into the combo. Sorry that wasn’t worded very well. The balls were fairly clean but not polished. I imagine the fourth ball would react if they were filthy.

Interesting. I just took Briesath's word for it that frozen balls would not react (but it sounds like they do?). I was looking for data on 'close but not frozen' balls.
