Chalk line blues

Hi All,
I've just finished my first table recovering and it turned out very well except for one problem. As a guide for even stretching I snapped a chalk line down one side of the cloth thinking it would be a simple matter to remove it but brushing and vacuuming has minimal effect.

If I had my brain in gear I would have put it far enough over so that it would have been under the rail but...

So I now have an unsightly blue chalk line down the length of the new burgundy worsted and I'm hoping for some advice on how it should be removed without damaging the cloth.

Thanks
Fred

Next time as a guide: use the overhang of the cloth or with simonis you can see the grain, if you will, in the cloth. These are the methods I use.

There are those "chalk off" products that you can get through online billiards suppliers.

However, chalk from a chalk line may not have the same properties as billiard chalk. You might want to put some of the chalk on a piece of scrap felt and testing any removal technique before doing it to your table.

Thanks guys.

The damp microfiber hardly touched it so I will probably try one of the products mentioned.

Actually it is not too bad so I may just have to live with it but I sure don't like to see it on my new cloth.
