Someone sort of called me out and said that I couldn't do layered tips... And that was the reason all of our tips are single layered... I doubt I do any tomorrow but I may go ahead and make a cpl just to prove a point. Chalk is looking like a no go still.. More mould problems.. So I may have an hour to kill somewhere LOL.. If you come by the booth at the expo I might have an interesting experiment that I will want feedback on...

It will be interesting to see you pull this off... layered tips... huh? I hope you won't charge a premium for them... ha :grin-square:

I'll be there Saturday, will have my cue with the Soft I got a while ago. Which is still playing super nice.

I don't see why anyone would bother with saying you should do a layered tip when the one you make is so good as it is. I like it better than anything else I tried so far.

Oh damn, nothing like telling someone that something can't be done to set the wheels in motion. I will increase the hunt for some shark skin for you, good luck with this new endevor.

Aloha

I made some layered tips a long time ago. Some from shark & some from goat. The goat tips were very hard, but played nice. To my surprise, the tips turned out very consistent. Granted I am not a tip maker by any stretch, just a curious cue maker doing some weird experiments, and I pulled it off with very little trouble. I see absolutely zero reason a tip maker couldn't do an even better job. The question I have is, why? A good solid tip trumps a layered tip any day, IMO. My experiences over the years has led me to rely on solid leather. I have found that the only time a layered tip proved worth while to me was when I couldn't get good solid tips anymore, such as when Sumo went out & LePros got so inconsistent. That's not an issue anymore as I have found a way to treat solid tips, as well there are some new manufacturers of solid tips (such as yourself) who focus on high quality. Again, it's just my opinion from personal experience, but I see no purpose for layered tips when good solid tips are available. And I see no reason to even mess with making them if you are already producing quality solids. Sometimes proving a point is fun, but earns you nothing. The person who challenged you has no respect for what you do, and still won't after you prove them wrong.

I completely agree with you there Eric.

Chris if you get the time I would like a hair on cow layerd tip, preferably black and white. It will go right along with the cue I'm going to build with the cow in a can installed in the butt section of the cue, and the hair on cow wrap. That way every one will know it's me shooting when they hear the "Moo" from across the room.

Aloha

OK funny guys... I get it... Will stick to what I am doing... Still processing batches of chalk tryng to see if we can get the process ironed out in time to at least take 1-200 pieces to Expo so I really can't find time to play on something that has nothing to do with what we really do... I can PLAY later =D
