In the final, Chamat came out on fire, cruising to a 3 - 0 lead and it looked like the rout was on. Deuel pulled to within 3 - 1, and in the next rack, Deuel made a superhuman kick-in of the four ball to set up a runout, pulling within 3 - 2. Racks were traded for 4 - 3, and Deuel had a good chance to run out for 4 - 4, but had a shocking miss, so it was 5 - 3 Chamat. Deuel was a bit unfortunate to scratch while making a tough cross-side bank in the next rack, and Chamat ran out for 6 - 3, pretty much sealing the deal. Soon, it was over, and Chamat was a very deserving champion.

Congratulations to both players on a well played tournament, look for both of them to have a good Open.

Yeah, Chamat made the kind of run needed to win a US Open, beating Roschkowski, Hohmann, Immonen, and Deuel , winning three of those matches by three racks or more. Marcus is in dead stroke right now!

I lost a little bit of money on this final. I picked Deuel to win with a friend before he first played Mika. I thought Mika was playing better, but Corey tends to be somewhat of a nemesis for him.

So I picked Corey! And my friend, Chamat! Oh well...

Thanks for the report once again, sjm. Now we know which players to watch out for in Chesapeake!!!
