Blue diamond Soft tips work the best on stiff shafted cues/ and/ or on the old aluminum jointed Dufferin cues. I swear that a change to Blue diamond softs will completely upgrade your older Dufferin maple or ash shafts and the cue will play great! I don't know about CF as I don't use those shafts.

I’m not in Vegas at the moment however I do have a place there again. Still have rental properties there.

Lots going on in my life, I’m going to make a post about everything pretty soon. Everything is good, real good, just making some big moves in life.

I've always stuck with ash. No idea what OP's on about with that "horrible hit" stuff. My Jason Owen is an absolute dream to cue with.

I'll never go back to a jointed cue, either. The aesthetics of the shorter splicing and the balance of a one-piece are incredible. For tips, I haven't used an Elk in a few years. Moved onto a G3. Soon to be a Mike Wooldridge SuperTip.
 
any tip that seems to hold its shape will work fine after you play with it for awhile and break it in by the pounding on it.

people need things to agonize about. tips, shafts, cloth, pocket size. length of shaft weight of cue, even their shoes.

I’m not going to be in Vegas then 😕😕

Have a great trip! Weather should be about perfect then, it’s a bit warm now-should be the last of the heat this year.
