Changing Aluminum Radial Pin

I have a jump/break cue with an aluminum radial pin in the main joint. The cue is 17.5 ounces. I'd like to increase the weight and move the balance slightly forward by replacing the aluminum pin with a stainless steel pin. The local cue maker I use for repairs declined to replace the pin because in his experience it is too easy to break the aluminum pin during removal. Are there any cue makers here who are comfortable replacing the aluminum pin with a stainless steel pin. If so, what would be the cost. BTW, the joint is wood to wood with phenolic joint collars. I appreciate your help. Thanks, Chuck

Your local guy sounds very inexperienced.
This is very easy to do. I can't even imagine how a person would attempt this and risk breaking the pin.
Find someone reputable, and ship it to them, it should cost you around $40 or $50 +shipping.
