Changing inlays

Is it possible for a cue maker to swap out some inlays in a production cue?
I appreciate the cue butt would need to be re finished afterwards.

Yes it is possible if you can find one willing to do it. I used to do it until I found out how much it offends some cuemnakers.

Cue have 4 'shell' inlays in forearm and another 4 in the butt sleeve.
I'd like these swapping out and replaced with plain black
