Changing of shaft insert

I have a pre-cat predator shaft, bought as a blank and fit to my custom cue. I have retired my custom but I love the shaft. Would it be cost effective to have a cuemaker change out the insert so it will fit my new cue, or should I just look for a new(er) shaft? Is this procedure possible w/o disturbing the integrity of the shaft?

Any even half competent cue repair mechanic would be able to do that with minimal effort.
