Changing Tip On a Mezz WD700

Are there any issues with changing a tip from the standard, I think Moori Medium, to a Moori Soft?

Is a pad required?

Just switched from a Schon w/ Moori Soft to the Mezz WD700.

I didn't like the moorie, switched to Kamui black soft, I love it and no pad needed.

Decided to go with a pressed Elk Master (Not Milk Dud) and love it.
