Are there any decent halls near the airport in Charlotte? I have a business trip planned in May and would like to stop by. I am probably going to be close to the airport so that would be a plus since my coworkers wouldn't understand my addiction or appreciate me having the car out till 2. :grin:
 
Not sure how near to the airport you're talking, but there are several good rooms in the area

Has anyone played at "Slates" ? It is closer to where we are staying and it looks like they have decent food.

Slate is a very new spot. A friend of mine helped build the place. The location is very near uptown Charlotte in a neighborhood called South-end, plenty of great food, bars and entertainment nearby. It's located in an old Julian's sports bar that was renovated to be Slate, All-American pub and Oak Room. I personally haven't been, but it's supposed to be all 8' diamonds, no championship style cloth or anything like that though.

If you are looking for the best equipment and players, I definitely agree with the previous poster who suggested Smokin Cue. Their Weds night 9-ball tourney is chock full of very talented players and the break and run is massive.
