cheap carbon fiber shaft

Find my posts on my journey into CF.
Like you, I was looking for something cheap to test the water.
Bottom line, buying one of the best shafts on the market will save you time and money.

long time wood shaft user, want to try cf, but on the cheap. need 5/16 14 to fit Schon/Joss, about 12.5 diameter.

What's the best bang for my buck??

TIA

I am of the belief, and feeling that when it comes to Carbon fiber shafts, you really get what you pay for. For example, you could get a full CRICAL Carbon Fiber cue for about $120, on Amazon, but I would be shocked if it would be something that I would personally enjoy playing with.

So far, the only CF shaft that I have really loved playing with is the Whyte Carbon, by Triple 60 (and I have tried a few of the other $500 brands, on the market). Very hard to imagine that opinion ever changing, no matter how many CF shafts I would try out.

I have heard that the Rhino hits really nice though, and now they came out with a new version called the MUST, which is around $254 on Amazon. That might be a really nice hitting shaft, but I do not know.

Good luck, and hope you enjoy whatever you try 1st.

You tend to get what you pay for. Carbon fiber is no exception to that rule.

I got a Rhino, for my GFs McDermott, a couple Christmases ago, and she likes it. That prompted at few others on our 8 ball team to get either shafts, or full cues from Rhino. Everyone is very happy with them.

I've seen ads for Bizu Billiards, and they have a carbon fiber shaft for $103 with free shipping.
Haven't seen anything about it on this forum yet, but I'm sure it'll end up getting reviewed here eventually.
Hard to beat that price for a shaft.

I've always used predator shafts for me there wasn't anything else i would try. I tried a shaft at a tradeshow and i liked it. If i didn't like it i would of stayed with wood. It was good enough for me to buy and take home for a bit. I knew what i had to do and just like going fully to LD i needed to commit to this shaft for a few weeks. You can't switch back and forth. I've been using them for almost five years now. The complaints i had about wood shafts were fixed with Carbon. I really don't have complaints about carbon yet.

There is this highly rated seller on ebay, who auctions off these flawed Jacoby Black Seconds, with a cheap butt. They usually sell for pretty cheap. This one for example is ending on Sunday, and will probably sell for under $200.

I have tried these, from this seller, several times though, and I personally think they are total garbage, and nothing like the real 1st quality shafts. The taper is nothing like the real thing, and the mm of the tips are always some unusual size. They hit like complete garbage too, in my opinion.

I got a nice experience with a Crical CF. You can try that. Just make sure it is your preferred taper. I can do either, but I prefer playing with a pro-taper since I'm using an 11.5mm.
