Cheating Stories- The Good, the Bad, & the Ugly.

Who was it? I'd hate to think somebody's running around the area trying to pull this.. I'm a bit surprised nobody got hurt, too, especially over $500/rack.
I didn't personally know them, as I took a hiatus from The Cue Ball for about 2 years due to who they employed at the time, but afterwards I did hear two names being talked about a lot, Matt Horner & John Campbell, from what I understand one of those 2 is who got cheated. I do know John Campbell personally now and play against him on a regular basis, so I might just ask if it was him who got cheated. Matt Horner I've played etc.. but I don't know him personally. As for the cheater, couldn't tell ya, didn't recognize him and haven't seen him since.

EDIT: Now that I think about it, it was more than likely Campbell who got cheated because he is known to thrown down some decent cheese on a regular basis. Matt Horner I think actually teaches a billiards class @ UOF in Eugene. Never really heard anything about him gambling.

Horner plays pretty strong and gets in the ring, so it could be either of them. Kinda surprised that the cheater left intact, even if only having to surgically remove that device from his body. Sounds like they got run off to go somewhere else and try to steal. Couldn't find anything on Campbell, does he go to Lincoln City at all?

Yeah, I'd say he's a strong AA maybe even AAA player. Not sure if he went to the coast this year tho. I'd say he's around Carlos Santibanez or Tommi Rossi's speed. Though John has a bad history with most, so he mainly sticks to smaller tournaments for easy money. Although I have played Tommy & Carlos in $75 winner takes all tournaments full of nothing but D players. Not much action in these parts except small time tournaments every day of the week.

I've only been to the coast a handful of times, so I don't know all of the players. In the fall I got a handle on the tables after playing a few days straight and took Randy for a short set of 8 and split a couple sets of banks with young Chris. This last time I was short on money, so I got the hell outta Dodge after getting knocked out of the tournament(in which I tend to play like crap:mad:). Figured I could wait til I got home to use an ATM. :o Got some things going on right now, but maybe I'll have a little money to drop on pool this summer or at least by the next coast tournament. I hear the tournament they have at the Cue Ball once or twice a year is a pretty good one, too. I didn't know who Randy was until after I played him.. kinda dodged a bullet on that one.

The Cue Ball has an open 9-Ball once a month, second Saturday I believe. It's $200 added, BCA rules w/ handicap. The person with the most accumulated points at the end of the year gets to play the owner Jim for $500. Matt Horner plays it once in awhile, and last time I checked he was the only AAAA ranked players in Oregon.. and maybe even Pacific Northwest.

Which Randy are you talking about? I know and play with a few who are close to Matt's speed.
