Now they have fixed all the bugs and it should work fine also on iOS.
Also the various subscriptions for the full function incl. Section 3 with the 10 day free trial are available since yesterday. You have to register first and find the subs on your personal "MyCheck" area on www.checkbilliard.com/en/

Checkbilliard is NOT a GAME for your phone. It's a training system for learning how to play pool in REAL. You will get the drills and workouts you have to solve on a real pool table. The pics and the videos in the app shows you how to place the balls on the table and how to play it.
After playing the tests you will get feedback to your skills and Checkbilliard is finding your deficits and give you workouts to become a better player.

NOW, have real fun - not a virtual one. :smile:
 
When I saw this thread, I thought "oh, what I have been looking for" and I have been looking. I tried another search on the GooglePlay store for billiards training, and Checkbilliard was not in the first 50 or so, and got some really off topic results along the way. Searching checkbilliard brought it right up.

Just wanted you to know that a lot of people aren't finding out about this because of the search results.

Just installed it today and did not see either of those two requirements (though even if I did, those are pretty gentle requirements compared to virtually every other app I install).

I will be giving an in depth review after Saturday's practice session.

So far, just looking at it, I wonder why there isn't a table size selection when taking the tests? The results would be different on different sized tables, and ability wouldn't be gauged accurately depending on which table a player is using.
 
Will it work on a laptop? It will work on a notepad correct? Using on my phone is a no go, I hate using internet stuff on my phone, I bought it to use as a phone, not a miniature computer that everything is too small to see on.

It is an Android / iPhone app. Not sure, but is there a program to run android apps on a computer? Someone should have thought about doing that by now.

As for my review:

My first trial of the app didn't go as far as had hoped. I scored a lot lower than I thought I would going through the first set, so I stopped during the second set and decided to do my usual warm up session first. I recommend this to anyone taking the test, got much better results second time around, but then people showed up to play and had to stop. Still have a bit to go through before getting recommended exercises.

My advice to users: Watch the video for how to use it (third in the group when clicking on videos, second if you speak German) Also watch the video of the test itself, watching someone else do it helps see exactly what you need to do.

Don't get discouraged with your results, Watching Souquet do the straight 100 and barely staying in the zones shows how difficult it is, and is made that way to get a good read on your ability. It would be the straight 1000 if they did a more progressive test.

I wish there was more interaction on the website to go along with the app. Mostly, I would like to print out the tests and use that and then input my results, phone is too small, and really lengthens the time it takes to do the tests. People who don't have their own table and use a pool hall will probably stop using it after the first 20. It would also speed up the tests. The printouts should have all info needed to take each test, instead of having to click on the Info and Do's and Don'ts icons.

I would also like to watch the videos on the computer. Sort of a "get prepared before going off and working" session.

Don't forget my initial question about table size. While there is a big difference performing the first 20 on a smaller table, the straight 100 ability goes up exponentially. There should be a selection for which size table you are testing on, and that should be taken into account.

Lastly, there are shots of different areas of expertise on the same tests, like draws and follow for distance. Wouldn't it be useful to know which of these the player is accomplishing? Either split up the tests, or use an input mechanism that allows the user to tell which shots in the test he missed.

Once I get to a point t where I am getting recommendations. I will give more feedback.
 
Here is an updated review of the app. Bear in mind, I am not a paying user, so I still have limited access to the app. This is actually one of the things that I am amazed at. There is a lot available even if you aren't paying. Once you get through everything available, I bet you are going to want to buy the full version.

The practice set ups not only give you what you need to hone your ability in making various shots, but also enlightens you to any positional possibilities you aren't aware of. Some three rail position shots that might seem impossible are not that difficult with a little practice. Especially when you compare it to the obvious shots that are harder.

For those of you who might already have access to great positional and shot making routines, this app will still benefit you with the additional guidance and tracking of your progress.

I like the app but think it is way overpriced. I am not cheap by any means, but I would never pay $60 for this and certainly would not do it every year. I was expecting it to be $30, maybe $40 at the most, when I went online to buy it. Haven't used it since.

The videos in concept are a good idea, but I would say get rid of them as I am sure they add to the "cost" and add little to the value of the app. I watched them once on the free stuff but did not on the registered and would never do it again in the future.

Hi Skippy,
We are happy that you like the app too, but if you never tried the full version (there is also full free trial), how can you say that it is too expensive? So you don't know what you can get for your money! That is a little bit dishonest, isn't it?

There are more than 200 new full HD videos inside. Hundreds of tests, drills, workouts, personal analysis and much more.

Developing and programming took over 3 years and big money. The income will be used to make further development with the great ideas our customers have pared with our visions.

First off, thank you for making an app that can do this. It is a great idea. I downloaded the app and payed for Gold membership for one month. I want to give this a serious try.

Kudos to you guys for picking a price plan that is very reasonable. Now I completely disagree with a recent AZ poster on the price being to high. For approximately $10 a month you are getting a tailored training session that you do not have to spend time planning out. Bert Kinister is my favorite instructor but he charges $30 a month for just videos on his website.

I like the layout and everything I have seen or watched about the app. I will try the first 20 tomorrow.

My two concerns are the following:

1. I would like to see some more statistics on the website, basically your whole profile and everything you have put into it. Sometimes I cant use my phone at work but can access a computer, Will I be able to look at my stats, exercises, drills, and corresponding videos on the website in the future?

2. When I try to select any video on my android 4.4.2 phone, nothing happens. I don't understand why this is but it happens on every video in any menu. Hopefully this is a temporary issue. I really want to watch a video to better explain the drills to me.
