I've thought about this for a while. Due to recent events at other tournaments, I'm going to have my BCAPL ID card and my drivers license on hand before every match this July.
I plan on playing in the Open 9 ball, Open 8 ball and open mixed team 8 ball. I will have my ID on the table before every match and expect to see my opponents. I have never done this before, just went by the honest/integrity of the player. Sad to say, I don't want to find out after the fact, maybe I was playing somebody's best friend instead of the actual player on the score sheet.
Last year I got very close to moving up to Intermediate level. I finished 49th in the Open 8 ball. This year my goal is to finish in the top 48 and be moved up to Intermediate next year. I would hate to hear that some ringer beat me and was not even in the tourney. I gave this much thought, just doesn't seem to be a better way to handle it. So....if you play me....have your ID and BCAPL card handy. I know some people will call this a **** move, but, I just don;t want to take the chance.
