Last night and again tonight, Chris Melling is playing two Chinese 8-Ballers (Wu Zhenyu last night and Wang Yun tonight) in the first legs of a round robin invitational tournament featuring 9-Ball played on the Chinese 8-Ball tables. ICEA Facebook Page (linked here) has the appropriate links for the PPV--The event does take place late in USA night (11pm start here in Seattle), though I believe they looped it this morning, and it is $6, but was worth it to me for the intrigue. I don't have all the info--much of it is in Chinese--but was able to get a set of rules. If folks are interested I will try to find a way to attach or link that picture here. But the jist is that the racks are played for points (6 for B&R, 5 for "rack-and-run", 3 for 3 foul rule, etc). And they play most points after fifty racks for each challenge.

Wu Zhenyu was way ahead of Melling last night when I turned it off, which surprised me a bit. It is an intriguing watch in terms of the crossover of game and table, and the unique sets of rules. I always find Chinese 8-Ball interesting already for the way it really pits players from divergent disciplines together. And I think the incorporation of 9-Ball is a furtherance of this point of interest.
