Hi,

My Question - 8-ball :
You're at the table, and can't quite dish, because of one ball. You don't want to try to dish, because you don't like your chances of opening the problem ball during the run.

However, other pots are on. While naturally you don't want to pick off all your balls to leave just the porblem one, you would like to have less on the table when you do go for the dish.

So, how do you decide which balls to take off the table, and which to keep until the dish?

Thanks,

Well, this is a tough question. I don't play 8-ball too much, but I will try to answer.

The way that I play, I would try to get a shot on one of the other balls that would allow me to break out my problem ball. But, the only way to do that and be confident with doing that would be knowing that you are in a position to break the balls up and defintely have a shot on the ball you have broken out.

I also like Gremlin's idea as well. The one pocket approach. Bump the ball around in order to to get a shot. Though playing 8-ball that is risky because the other person has the opportunity to shoot and you may not have a sure safety. But if you have a chance to bump your ball closer to a pocket or out of trouble and you can safely not leave a shot.

Hopefully this has given a little insight. Like I said, 8-ball is not my specialty. Take care everyone.

Thanks everyone, there are some good suggestions in there.

I think my tactical game is really coming together. Just need to bring my potting and positional play up to standard now :)
