choosing joint

So many options-phenolic, Stainless steel, wood to wood...

Are there criteria (durability, playability) for making an intelligent choice?
 
Well. Mostly it depends in woods used. Some cues can't have a SS joint bc they will be too heavy. Other then that it's just prefrence I believe.
 
Go to your local repair man or cue maker and offer to buy him lunch one day and ask him to explain the differences. or, you can call me if you want, and I will explain it to you, but I ain't gonna type it out. PM me with your phone number.........
