A while back I bought a Brunswick butterfly conversion from Chuck Starkey. I was curious as to how the wood pin would feel and I was so impressed that I decided to order another shaft for it. The new shaft I ordered was a 30" no-ferrule shaft. Chuck really encourages people to try the no ferrule and I'm glad I did. It really has a solid hit and moves the cue ball effortlessly. I also had him build an extension for the butt of the cue and he did a great job with that too.
Chuck's cues are excellent and his customer service is held to the same standard. On my new shaft there was a small flaw and he took care of it no questions asked, and he threw me a little bonus gift just for the trouble. He went above and beyond to make sure I was happy with my purchase. If anyone is on the fence about trying the wood pin or no ferrule I say give it a shot. You won't be disappointed.
