Chump cuemakers

I think a prerequisite for a cue maker is that he should LIKE the game.....
.....that gives him empathy for poolplayers

But you won't see Gus Szamboti's name on any pool trophies....
...but if you play like Jeff Olney, it doesn't hurt either.

Actually Gus loved to play, I heard he was a low B. Bushka ran a 60 something maybe a little more or less.

One thing you need to be careful of is a good playing cuemaker will insist his cues are perfect, no matter what you say. I would rather have a guy I can talk to, and discuss what I want, hence the word CUSTOM, and not hear negative feedback on what I like vs. what they want to do.

I don't think there are any pre-requisites other than the "want to" attitude.

One of the best cue I own was made by a couple of guys that never really played pool until after they had started building cues. They just fell into building cues after one of them was asked to help build a case: It's George.

Abe Rich never played pool.

But, they are the exception, I guess.

In the end, what they think about the game, I could care less (personally).

I'd like to think that they could at least play a little..........
Enough anyways to understand the needs of a customer in the context of how they want a cue to hit like.

Most players have no clue what is good, bad, or what they like.

What you think hits good, I think it sucks, and visa versa. That goes for cuemakers also.

I would buy a cue from any cuemaker, if he never hit a ball in his life.
as long as I like it. Doesn't matter what anyone thinks, I like it.

You can adapt to playing with anything.

Meucci and Cuetec have won a few championships, I personally don't like either cue. Wtf do I know. I could tell Earl, Shane, Alison, and others, their cues suck.

Nasa never flew to the moon, they just built the aircraft.
