Cleaning black Diamond pocket stuff off my cue?

At the Tunica event, I was playing on those nice, brand new Diamond tables. So sweet.

Anyway, what the heck is that black stuff that streaks up your cue? Is it the dye or what from the leather pockets? Some plastic coating over the leather?

I have it on my break cue pretty badly. A lot of it is on the clearcoat finish. Some is on the uncoated part of the shaft.

What is the best way to get this stuff off without damaging the cue or the clearcoat?

I haven't really given an honest effort to getting it off yet, as I was afraid of damaging something.

Thanks for any and all help.

I have a 7ft Diamond and I got the streak on my breaker. I just dampened a paper towel and then burnished with a paper sack. My came right off...

At the tournaments we clean the tables at we use hand sanitizer to get the marks off the balls. Maybe it will work on your cues as well. It docent take but a very little.

It's the plastic from the pocket coverings. Just wipe it off with a slightly damp towel.

I used my Magic Eraser with some isopropyl alcohol and it came off in seconds.

Then I rubbed it up really good with a McDermott leather burnishing pad and it's slick as a mole's tooth.

Thanks so much, folks!
