A friend of mine just had his table recovered with simonis 860, and the mechanic told him not to brush the table, but instead just use a vacuum and make sure the table is covered when not in play. How would you suggest cleaning and maintaining simonis 860. Is brushing it bad? Any input is appreciated.

Brushing is OK, just don't use a powered bristle attachment on the vacuum. You will get lots of ideas on how to clean the cloth, but why not just go with the manufacturer's recommendations:

I'm using the Simonis X1. It works real good. Once in a blue moon I vacuum real lightly. Gentle sweeps toward from head to foot (in the same direction each time.) I have not used a brush since I bought the X1. If you do use a brush buy a good quality horse hair.
