Cleaning the Thread Of a Shaft

I have a joint protector that should go in the shaft but will get a little over halfway down and get real tight. Thinking it must be dirty or something. Is there a way to clean it out? Also, I have 4 shafts with the cue and the protector goes on perfectly on the other 3. Thanks in advance.

You might have some epoxy sitting in the brass insert. Will probably need to run the appropriate tap through it to clear it out. Simple fix
