CNC Issue

Thanks again John and Wildbill.

Lee's guy also called me this morning and gave me a few things to look at. I also spoke with Kenny Murrell today and he gave me some help.

I wasn't happy last night with the circles, but I went down this afternoon and re-calibrated everything.

I cut a circle that was .125 and one that was .070 and both are perfect circles.

Not only did I get the problem fixed, I understand a lot more about what the machine is doing.

Thanks again for all the help.

Was it trying to cut a circle by using several srtaight lines? I seem to remember having that issue when setting up my first cnc. Chris.

The first of many learning experiences.....

If only CNC's detractors were correct, and you could just insert the cue, and go get some coffe while the cnc spits out finished cues. :D

You mean it doesn't happen that way?

Hi Tony,

I had the same problem two months ago with the CNC. First I thought about backlash on nuts. Has adjusted it in program, but it has not helped. When I checked holding lock nut of screws, there were screw off a little and screws had big (0,2-0,3 mm) direct-axis backlash in bearings. When I have fixed holding lock nuts and have again adjusted backlash that all began to work superb.

Sorry for my bad English but the main idea - first of all check mechanical parts and attach hardware (fastenings of screws, sliding rail, attachment of step motors and from step motors to screws, all belts and pulleys if they are present on CNC).

Good luck
