Coat over linen at home?

Is it possible to put a clear coat over linen at home with no lath?
Tape off the wood and spray with a rattle can?
I'm so tired of cleaning the blue chalk off my wrap.

It's certainly possible. Will it look good? Probably not..
I would look into why you get so much chalk on your grip hand in the first place

agreed, much easier to wash your hands than clean the linen wrap

My old neighbor did his without a lathe, it turned our pretty good. He used a cordless drill on the joint pin and a wood dowel at the butt clamped to two sawhorses... pretty funny but it worked for him.

What ever way that cue needs to be turning....if it was me I do epoxy over the linen.

Just send it to PB and be done with it. Not that costly.
