Worse comes to worst, guess I'll buy that ebony PJ on eBay and wait for Joe to get back to work in a year or so in Florida or Cali and make me a new shaft for it...lol
if gold is using the same materials as he did when he started out, then the ferrule is proprietary also, and probably the most difficult to "copy". imo, it also accounts for much of the gold "hit"as it is close to the tip.
getting a stiff hitting cue is easy, and lots of cuemakers are using a g10 pin which is glass epoxy resin, like what gold uses.

No other cue hits exactly like a Cog. If I had to pick one that seems the closest I would compare it to my Schick.
The Cognoscenti is a sweet hitting cue with its original shafts...but when I put on an ivory ferruled shaft that Dennis Searing made for it, SWEETNESS is taken to another level!
