Cognoscenti Replacement Shaft

I would like to get a second shaft made for a Cognoscenti cue. My first choice would have been to go back to Joe Gold but I understand that is not an option as he has closed shop.

I don't necessarily need the ring work duplicated on the new shaft (silver stitched rings).

The G10 pin and thread (Don't know what thread Joe used) seems to be limiting my options with some cue makers.

I would even be happy with a Predator blank with a plain black phenolic joint.
The existing shaft is tapered way to thin for me (about 12.25) so I would like to get a 12.75-13 MM tip shaft with a better taper made for the cue.

Any ideas or suggestions?

Thanks
Tim

Paul Drexler can do exactly what you want. He will match (grind) the threads
exactly. And knowing Paul's work, it wouldn't surprise me if could match the ring work.

I didn't even think to talk to Paul. I spoke to Joel Hercek at Joe Golds recommendation, but Joel said he didn't have the tooling to deal with Joe's thread pattern. I suspect Joel was probably a little too busy to deal with it as well.

I haven't talked to Paul in while. I'll have to see what he thinks.

Thanks

I have the tap for it and predator blanks:), check your pm sir?:)

Why don't you just get in contact with Bobby Hunter who trained under Joe Gold. Bobby a good guy to deal with and does excellent work. You also could contact Chudy(RC3).

I just looked at Hunters site. Looking at a couple of pics of cues there it is pretty obvious Joe Gold must have had and influence on his designs. A lot of similarity in the inlay work.

Yeah, that's why I suggested him. Chudy also uses the silver stich ring work, but I am not familiar with his cuemaking background; I just know he makes high quality cues. They're both in Northern Cali where I am.

Have you contacted Mike Webb? I think that man has all the pins and threads in this world!!!!

His shaft plays really well. I used to play with low deflection shafts (314, universal LS, OB-1) but can play well with Mike Webb's shaft. I screw it onto all my radial pin butts.
