coin mechanism on a Dynamo

I have never messed with the coin mechanisms on a bar box and recently took over a local account for a guy that lives in florida for the colder months. The problem we are having, is when the money goes to be pushed in the balls do not want to drop and the mechanism jambs and will not come out unless you hit it several times. You can lift the gate manually and the balls will fall. What should i be looking for? Would it be the springs on the coin mechanism or is it something to do with the gate? Also when the cue ball drops, it some times gets caught between the drop and the other balls?
Thanks, Ron

you probably need a new coin mechanism..when they get old and start sticking some folks will hit them with a cue and they get bent.
also check the arm the coin mech pushes against sometimes they get wore and have flat spots on them if it is it may not let the all the balls drop.
while your in there clean out all the trash and you may need a new cuee ball.(some of the off brand balls are not as good as they should be)

i hope this helped

Ron, I not sure exactly what wrong but here are some things to check. 1. the top of the coin mec are two screws something they loosen. 2. The chute screws become loose. 3. The return spring is broken or you are missing c clips that hold the bushing in place. For you cue ball problems you might need to adjust your magnet arm. If everything looks good, then you should probably replace the coin mec.

Look at the "L" shaped coin chute extension. It may have a notch worn in it. If it does, that will keep the chute from going far enough to dump the balls. If this is the case, get a split pin or sometimes called a tension pin 1/4" in diameter and tap in onto the chute extension across the edge that has the notch worn in it. The pins are hardened and will last a very long time and eliminate the binding.

If the location has had the ball view door off of the table for "free pool" the ball dump may be twisted so that the last few balls wont drop. You'll have to take the ball dump (aka damper bar or ball trap) out of the table and twist it back into shape so that it lays flat on a flat surface.

Coin mechanism

Thanks, Glen. After i talked to you i did what you said and it was a couple things. First, i noticed the the bushing on the gate was warn, then i noticed the gate was a little bent. I fixed them and it was better, but it still hung a little. I then adjusted the backing on the coin mechanism to half way and it worked like a charm. Thanks, Ron
