A friend of mine was looking at the replica Color of Money Joss N-7 to purchase. We noticed something. There appears to be 2 different versions, one has greenish inlays, and the other red. Which is the actual replica of the one in the movie?

Here is the one he likes:

Which one resembles the one from the Movie the most? Thanks.

Danny changes it every couple of years. He has a model that he calls the COM cue. To find the exact replica I think you have to go pre 90s. Someone who knows more about Joss cues will corect me if I'm wrong.

the first one looks like the original version , a j-18. it has the logo on both joint rings, and the green veneer (the color of money ). someone correct me if i'm wrong on that. i have a second version with the spears between points and the logo on the joint rings. the cue with the spears i've seen in advertising from 1990.

the second link is a even later version, maybe 3 or more incarnations later.

the bids reflect the difference.

The actual color of money cue was most similar to the second link (the one with the red veneer). There were some differences though.

In the movie, the cue was four ebony points with maple, ebony, red, and ebony veneers (inside to out) and there were no diamond shaped inlays in the points.

As for the but, the ivory diamond was actually a mother of pearl notched diamond. The wrap was also reversed, white with what appeared to be black specs. And yes, i know I have way too much time on my hands!

I always thought there was green in the original. I'm prolly wrong though. Ughh, does anyone else hate the look of CNC'd points?

I also noticed that the diamonds in the butt were done both ways, as a standard diamond and as the french notched diamond. I think I like the notched one better.

i just went back and looked again. i didn't see any green but i could have been wrong.
And yes, i agree. CNC'd points are a little unpleasant to the eye.

seeing as how i own the movie lol, and just watched it, i thought the cue Tom Cruise used had black/red veneers/inlays? And just the Mother of pearl Diamonds on the butt of the cue?
