Comebacks: It Ain't Over 'Til It's Over. Let's Hear them!

I played in a 10 ball ring game tourney in Atlanta once, where the format was everybody(I think that there were 25 players on 4 tables) got 10 chips. They started the "blinds" started at one chip, and I lose the first 9 games, only getting 1 chance to get out. On the tenth game, they raised the blinds to 2 chips, and the guy in front of me ends up missing the ten, leaving me a virtual spot shot from the end rail. I ended up making the shot, and ended up "all in" twice more. Long story short, I ended up putting 3 or 4 together to start the final table, and ended up winning. Was kind of cool. I have been fortunate to come back in some sets where I was down hill to nothing, but this was much better, imo. I had always heard of "a chip and a chair", but this is the first time I had ever seen it in person.

Great posts people...

My best comeback was at a tourney at Seven Feathers Casino...8 ball, race to 7, I won the 1st game...my opponent got the next 6 games straight...I came back to hill-hill with my break...I made one and ran the other 6, but scratched on my last shot...my opponent proceeded with ball in hand to run 4 or 5 balls before messing up his position and playing a great safe...he left me about 1/2 inch behind a ball about 4 inches from the short rail and 6-8 inches from the long rail (He was sure he'd won)...the 8 never moved that game, it was still in the middle of the table...I called the 8 in the left side, and proceeded to jump over half a ball with lots of left english, kicking two rails to the 8 toward the side that I called...it went in...I said "lucky shot!"...the guy's face was red, but he forced a smile and shook my hand (a smile that told me to eat $&!%)...must have been a tough hand shake...poor guy.:D

I didn't win that tournament, but that match was worth the trip!

I'm enjoying all the posts as well. Thanks all!

...with no other choice I screwed together my trusty Cuetec Earl model jump break. I was 2 in the hole and started running balls.....127 later I was out with my high run and a priceless look on the dudes face!.....he quit after that:thumbup:

I just wish I could have kept going....to this day it is my high run.

yes, I still have that Earl J/B in my case to this day!

G.

Gerry-- Great story! For a second there I thought you were going to say that you screwed on another tip. Lol. :D. Nice C/B especially with the Cuetec. Did that become your player for a while? :)

Btw, I'm not sure but I think we met in August 08 at VF for the Million Dollar 9-B Tourny?? We were talking to Spider-Dave at the time. Hope all is well. Take care.

Regards,
Abe

I have alot of nice comebacks against some good players.. The most memorable one happened when i was gambling on the box for 100 a set races to 7. I was playing a good bar table player and before I knew it I was down 6 to 0. Things looked bad since i was not getting any opportunities at the table. Everytime the guy made a mistake he got away with it. In the 7th game the guy has a cosmo out and its not looking good for me. Well he ends up dogging the 7 ball straight in the corner pocket. I went to the table a little slower this time since I actually had a shot. I ran out the last few remaining balls and won the game. I then hit him with my highest run in 9ball on any table. I ran a 6pack to close out the set and win the cheese. Thats why I never give up...

i was playing in the texas open in austin about 15 yrs ago and i was down 8-1 race to 9...some guy yells out that he will take my oppenent since hes on the hill and give up 10 to 1 odds...this one guy i knew bet a 100 on me and sure enough i come back and win the match and got a $200 jelly roll!!
