the hustler would have been better without fast eddies shot love affair.

The Hustler was a movie not about pool, but about relationships, the central one being between Eddie and his girl. Pool just happened to be the stage. Still, it is the best "pool movie" ever made...so far...and you may be right with your opening statement. But I hope not...:D

Marissa you hit the nail on the head

Poolhall Junkies is a movie for ballbangers. Rick Schroder's character is using a graphite cue, and everyone else is slamming balls with everything just lining up. What about the scene where he "spots" the guy a few balls playing eight-ball. There's not a pool player around that doesn't know this hustle. And why the hell are they playing eight-ball?? If there's gambling going on, you're going to be playing nine-ball, one pocket, or even banks.

The only pool movie I'm looking forward to seeing is the one based on the life of former road player turned pro Danny Basavich aka Kid Delicious.

Hey Marissa,
By the way, "I'll bet I can tell you where got your shoes"!
"Have a nice day",

lol, ya'll take pool movies too seriously. It's exactly that, a movie... Do ya really think Neo is "The One", because I don't... I thought PHJ was entertaining. I was not analyzing it as a pool movie, and what shots they made or how they made them. It was somewhat of a comedy/drama if ya ask me, not a pool instruction video. If you want that, hit up the Bob Byrnes videos or something.. :)

The problem for me was PHJ that was like fast food - I was enjoying at the time but afterwards I had a bad feeling in my mouth and a vaguely sick feeling in my stomach. By the end you realize even the great speech of Christopher Walken is just wasted, because after all that talking he just goes out and continues ending up even against the Shroder character. In the end he wins on a cheap semantic hustle, not a great shot.
