Commentaries on Streaming Pool Matches.

I'm with you on most of this, although I do like one of the commentators to whom you alluded in your screed above. ;)

When a commentator is hard to listen to I usually I just turn off the sound and enjoy the play. What bothers me the most, though, is the streamers that insist on inserting a video window of themselves doing the commentary and/or the scrolling text of the chat. Like they are somehow important enough visually to distract from the actual game, or like I cared at all about what the people on the chat had to say. Those I usually give a thumbs down and leave the stream/video.

it seems that's a generational thing. the young generation apparently likes it that way. why, and how it came about i dunno

It's fine to comment on what has happened and whether it was a difficult shot or tough leave. It is not okay to constantly say how the next shot will be played, especially when they get it wrong so often.

Any commentator telling personal stories should be shot, we don't care about what happened to you in 1973 at the Podunk open. Inside jokes don't work.

Horse racing is not in any way like pool. That should be obvious. I agree that there are a large number of pool commentators who are not good. I've used the mute button on many matches. However, there are alow many good ones. JJ was mentioned. Agree. Allison Fisher also very good. For her you have to find a wpba tournament when she was knocked out early. Collins at post-up is good. Ra Hanna. Many more. If you are only listening to Matchroom then yea, good luck.
