As some of you may now know I bought a few cues and wanted to give an open reveiw of the cues I bought. I bought all of them asking for 19 OZ but ...
1. Schon CX37- 19.5 oz (Used, 1 year old) - I liked this cue. It felt more natural to me. I shot very well with it as is. I still would prefer a wrapless cue for some reason but that is most likely because I shot with a wrapless for so long. (Meucci and House cues) Nice wrap does not feel cheap. hoping as I break it in it feels more like the old Mcdermott wraps. Where you feel like it soft and almost one single sheet verses feeling the threads.
2. Joss 10-16 - 19.0 oz cue (New out of the Bag) - I liked it ok. It may of been the weight being lighter. (one shaft acutally makes the weight less than 19 oz) It too has a wrap. I felt like I had to think more on the game with this cue because of the hit. When hitting it has more of a hollow sound / feel. Not putting the cue down but can tell the difference between the Schon and the Joss hit. It reminds me of the Vikings in the 90's.. and maybe a Nick Varner.. Still like the cue. I dont think it hits as firm as a "D" Mcdermott but I have not shot with one in many years so It is a judgement from memory. Adding weight to the cue may help to firm up the hit to me. Again not a wrapless Cue. Same as with the Schon on the feel of the wrap since both are new to me.
3. Muecci (M-16) / Looks like the Giant Killer.( 20-22 Years Old)
19 Oz.. It was almost like old times with this cue.
Love it being wrapless. Could break well with the cue. Does not sound hollow when hitting the balls but not as solid of a hit or feel as the Schon.
It hits better than the newer meuccis ..like the 97 Models ( owned a 97-25 and hated it. I sold it on Ebay. Same with a newer Mcdermot I had. I had a Jeanette Lee Cue (bought in 1999 looks like a BWST1 but without the metal ring on the bottom). They had a Plinky sound and feel to me.
If i were to buy another Cue.. I would say the Schon was my favorite right now. If a buy another or modify I would go wrapless. Number 2 on my list is the M-16 and then the Joss. I am hoping the weight will move the Joss up my list. This is mainly because I want to keep my older Meucci's just for puttting around and for the wall are in a case kind of thing. I have not shot with any of the DH's I have yet. One is being redone as I am writting this and one is waiting for the day I take it with me.
I will give you another write up when I shoot with the DH's and update my thoughts after I change the weight of the Joss.
Hope this helps anyone who is thinking of buying a cue and thinking of any of these brands.
