????Compare Barenbrugge to Fanelli????

Charlie...........
I have acknowledged there was a cue order.
I have aslo shouldered a very large percentage of the mis judgement.
But I'm not shouldering it all.
Thanks for your input........
Dave

Ok, when someone calls inquiring about a cue, any cue that you had in progress that wasnt spoken for ,you told me it was going to be as i remember a couple of months as you had nothing near ready i asked about sending a deposit and you as stated before told me you didnt accept deposits (which i did think was strange) but whatever........ When a friend of mine told of the Luckys site being the sole distributor i tryed to contact you threw e-mail with no luck, after some homework i found youre email address threw D. Dieckmans site and emailed you ,which in a couple of days you emailed back with a similar email message to the one you had as evidence above............ Without a written contract , or a deposit i geuss you could consider you to never had had any orders????????????????
But hey ,no hard feelings just stating my dealing with you..............

Im wondering why after quite a long time since this thread (original) was on here you feel it necesary to explain yourself ??? Maybe you are done with Lucky and trying to sell on youre own?? I dont know and further more i dont even care all i know is i thought i had a cue coming at some point but i geuss i will never own one of youre fine cues................

Dave, the fact is that I wanted a cue from you. Why would I spend all that time talking over weight, shaft size for nothing? I wouldn't waste a cuemaker's time or my own time. I wouldn't even call a cuemaker unless I'm sure that I want a cue from them.

I agreed to get a cue from you, and that you were going to start on it, it was a matter on when I was going to get it, earlier in the year of towards the end of the year. I didn't know if I was going to pick up a lot of stuff from the Expo so you said you could work on it slowly and just put me back on the back of the list since I wanted to make sure I had the money for you. Since I didn't buy anything at the Expo, hence the e-mail about moving back up on the list.

If a cue wasn't started immediately after the Expo and if that one month is between is when you decided to go to Lucky, then's it fine. I didn't get a Barrenbrugge cue back then and I still don't have one in my collection now, and I'm still happy.

What's with all this nonsense going around anyway? Where did you get the idea that I have a few friends that I've convinced that I've been screwed? This is my last response to this thread, this is stupid because will I plan on getting a Barrenbrugge to add to my collection? No, even if it was given to me for nothing.

38 degrees here...wind chill makes it feel like 20. Still snow lingering around from the 2+ feet of snow we got 2 weeks ago.

Hey Chris-
For starters, if the implication is that Dave is superior to Paul Fanelli, then the implication is flat out wrong. Paul is at the very front of the field in terms of his butterfly work. He makes truly unique and beautiful cues that only further the argument that cues are a form of art. As well, his points are also excellently crafted with beautiful, thin veneers that are razor sharp and one hundred percent even. .

I said nothing about who does better work. I just said Dave showed me his points blanks before I ever heard of Paul. I also looked in the blue book and it says Paul did his first butterfly splice in 2001. I saw Daves before that. I agree Paul does great work and am not putting his work down in any way. But if the implication is that Dave got his butterfly designs from Paul then that is not right. He was doing butterflies before Paul. You might contibute Dennis Dieckman with influencing Dave, but Dave came up with the tablesaw-jig of cutting v-points as far as modern cuemakers goes.

I'm not saying that Paul influenced Dave. But I have my opinions as to who builds a better cue. Still, they are just my opinions. I'm not saying it is fact. I'm also not saying what that opinion is (although I don't think I'm being to secretive about it either for that matter).

Anyway, this whole thing is between Dave, Eddie, and anyone who may try to buy a cue from Dave from this point forward. I'm not taking any sides. I simply thought that you were implying that Dave is a superior cuemaker to Paul because you had heard of him prior to hearing of Paul. I misunderstood what you were saying.

A few observations....

1) I think Joe (like other people with opinions) is simply is saying that he likes Paul's butterfly work better. So do I, and what's the big deal? People have personal preferences and boards like these are where they sometimes get expressed. Nothing to get upset over.

2) Dave is admitting he did wrong here and apologized about the order that fell between the cracks when he went exclusive with Lucky. I think that was a nice gesture.

3) From my perspective, I think it's probably a great thing that Dave did the deal with Lucky. It has allowed him to continue building cues as a profession. However, it's probably not without its downside. People here in the states will remember the "sell out" and when the Japanese market dries up, it might be tough coming back here wanting good money for your cues. Many customers want a more intimate relationship or experience with the cuemaker when ordering a cue than being directed to one dealer (especially when that one dealer is in Japan and the prices are very high compared to what the market here will bear). When you build cues for a living and tell people you "can't take their order", they tend to remember that.

4) It is in very poor taste to post personal emails on a public forum.
