Jason Miller, a great unknown has absolutely thundered out this year. Having lived in Dayton for a couple of years, I was always amazed that someone with Jason's talent didn't play more tournamentst.

But, I also admire his focus on priorities. But now that he realizes what kind of money he can make, his recent second World Bank Chamionship, second place One-Pocket, and World All-Around title has just been joined by his successful undefeated triumph at the IPT qualifier at the Derby City.

I had no idea how many people would buy into the $2K entry, but nearly 50 players did!!! That's outstanding! And for Jason to ride out that wave is just proof of his all-aroun d excellence.

Jason is a former amateur 8-ball national champion (or runner up or both) in the VNEA and a long time league player. So, 8-ball is not unknown to him.

Dilberto called him "Killer Miller" damn near all the time in his matches. Got to watch him ALOT during the DCC with his impressive showings.
 
Anyone know why Miller hasn't played in more big events? Does he have a good "non-pool" career that he's focused on? He seems like a real talent, so I was just curious.
 
He has been playing in the local or in the nearby tournaments and was visible for more than 12-13 years.He was always considered as a very strong player.When he first won Banks in Derby city I was NOT surprised.

He always played the leagues, and played in the weekly Airway tournaments. I believe he actually quit pool for several years. On his first trip to Derby City, he practiced banks. All the time I saw him play, he never struck me as a bank player as I only saw him playing 9-ball, and one time playing straight pool.

Of course, his teamate for years was the late great Gary Spaeth a multi-time World Bank Champion and recent inductee into the OnePocket Hall of Fame (under the action game player 'category')

Congratulations to Jason Miller, he might have to consider playing full time now that he's on the IPT.

Jason and I have been friends since he was about 14 years old. He used to follow Gary and I around when he was just a kid, gleaning all he could from the better players he ran in to. I always felt if he applied himself, he could be a top pro. He was on his way to stardom when a personal crisis slowed him down a little. His brother, who he was very close to, killed himself. Jason lost interest in pool and most everything else when that hit him. Now he's back on course and playing at championship level, as he demonstrated in Louisville. I'm really glad that he won his spot on the IPT, eightball is probably his best game! I believe he'll rise to the occasion and prove to be one of the top players in the tour!

Some years ago I had some friends telling the owner of Airway Billiards that I could shoot pretty good. He said for them to bring me over because they had a 15 year old kid that could beat me.

Well, I go over and watch him play. Yeah, he could beat me and just about everyone else too. So, needless to say I decided I didn't want to play Jason Miller at that age or any age for that matter.

I don't know this for a fact but somebody at the DCC told me that he owns a bar, and that's what takes up most of his time.
