Consistency on 8 ball break- help

I recently had a G-10 tip installed on my Sledgehammer. I am right handed, use a rail bridge from the left rail & hit the CB low & right (about 5 o'clock). I do the 2nd ball break.

I was quite pleased when I recently played on a 9' table & potted 1-4 balls on 11 consecutive breaks. However, most of the time I'm only potting 1 or more balls 30-50% of the time. Scratching, miscueing, & CB placement do not pose problems.

Suggestions welcome.

Cup 50%-70% empty

Don't change anything. Great 8-Ball results...SPF=randyg

To rephrase the old cliche about the cup 1/2 empty or full. I'm failing to make a ball on 50% to 70% of my breaks. What is going wrong on those occasions?

Well I'll tell ya.... 8-ball is my game and I was delighted when the IPT came around.

I thought GREAT! Now I can go and watch those pros break and learn the right break for 8-ball...

So I go to an IPT tournament and watch... Well NO ONE was making any balls on the break! (I think the slow cloth was the problem.)

And they had all sorts of different breaks. So I didn't learn anything...

I broke the same for a long time. With the same results, then I started using low left instead. I get a ball or balls on the break 80% of the time now.And ALOT of 8 ball breaks. The usual side pocket and now in the end pockets [both sides].One drawback is the cue ball banking off the left rail and crossing to the right corner pocket. Normally doesn't get there without hitting another ball but sometimes it does. With a little practise I've gotten by that also.Give it a try for a while and see. Don:cool:
