Contact lenses. Love em or hate em?

Couple of years ago for the first time i started to wear glasses just for reading then earlier on this this year I was diagnosed with type two diabitis and for a couple of months my eyesight flutuated dramatically as my suger levels were erratic. As the last lot of glasses prescribed for me (reading and distance) now seem perfect I asked for contact lenses as playing in glasses is the pits.
Not exactly the correct score as we never record it but just from memory over the last 6 sessions of snooker between my son and I they have gone like this:

I lost 6-1
I lost 5-2
I lost 4-2
I lost 4-3 wearing glasses
We drew 3-3 wearing glasses
I Won 1-5 wearing contact lenses

Needless to say i'll wear then every time i play from now on.

Definitely contacts for me; when I wear glasses when I bend to aim I don't have a solid look through my lenses and I have to look up through and the balls are all blurry. Thus I always put my contacts in when I play even when i play my sons.

I might have to try some contacts but would first need to find a prescription that would actually work from one day to the next. Type II diabetes here as well. Glasses have been very frustrating and I have yet to get prescription lenses that do anything better than cheap readers.

Playing cue games wearing glasses hasn't worked for me at all. I even bought some especially for sportsmen - Decot Hy-Wyd frames - and after four sets of expensive lenses, have given up completely. I'll just shoot at the fuzzy balls and hope for the best. On rare days I see well enough to play pretty decent still.

That makes the 116 break of yours you mentioned all the more impressive Underclocked:thumbup:

They reckon as long as i keep on losing weight (60lb since xmas) and get exersizing more i'll not need insulin or tablets and thats my aim. My eyesight has been on a roller coaster ride but it has fingers crossed settled down now and the contacts are excellent for snooker. It was so blurry at one stage i was having nightmares of me having to take up pool on the 7ft tables we have over here !

Played my son again this week and I was potting everything in sight the first frame, it was such a difference my mates on the next table stopped to watch as i cleared the colours with only the black on its spot the rest in "safe" positions against the cush. Went on to lose 4-1 though, funny old game aint it?
