So here is the plan.
Starting next Monday I am going to start some form of weekly-off-the-wall AZ contest. Nothing is 100% settled or set in stone except the fact that it will be some sort of weekly-off-the-wall AZ contest
Here's the set-up. Every week I will be giving away a $20 gift certificate to the billiards e-site of your choice to use for cue/table supplies. It might not seem like alot, but it is what's available, and it will get you some tips/chalk/scuffer/etc. Or you could always save up your gift certificates and buy a new set of balls for your table or a new cue case, etc.
If by chance you are one of the few people who doesn't ever need a new tip, et al... I am willing to put up $20 toward your next tournament(s) at your local establishment. I will have to have contact with the establishment and make the Money Order out to them and let it's uses be known, but I'm willing to pay your way to play if that is the way you would like it
By the way...No hall owners or cue dealers can participate
Sorry guys but if you are in need of $20 to buy a new Moori tip, you have problems of your own
The only thing I can promise about the first few weeks of the contest is that it will not involve the taping of shots. I'd like to give everyone a fair shot at winning, and not everyone has ready access to a personal camcorder. On that note, down the line there will deffinitely be some contests involving taped shots, but I'm giving you fair warning of that well in advance
If you have any suggestions for the topic of future contests, let me know... I'm open to ideas
So next week's contest will be posted at 10:30 central Monday night, and it will be a "name that cue" contest. I'll post a few pictures of a well-known or recognizable cue (might be a production cue by a well-known name, or it might be a well-known one-of-a-kind custom), and the first person to post the correct response wins the prize. That's it
Like I said, I want the contest to be open to everyone, so I am starting with a topic that anyone can win. All you have to do is show-up Monday night with a good cue memory-bank, or a great reference guide, and you could win
Enjoy
