Conventional shafts

If you have a good qualified cuemaker he could show you how much you could do just with the taper- and if you have for example an excellent oldgrown shaft, you re able to do so much with the taper..it s lovley. I have here a Dufferin from 1978. I used to use it as a break-cue with a modified leather tip. A few weeks ago a friend losts his break-cue and i loaned him the old baby.....he has such a smile on his face. He said truly, hat he never had played with a harder shaft which has so much control, even if the taper is more like a pro-taper. He s still wondering, why this shaft hits that hard ^^

it s all about qualification of the cuemaker and about the material. And another damn secret......the stroke of the player could be important, too-lol^^

I have actually been prety suprized about how many pro players use non-solid maple shafts. Just take a look at the shaft when they play, I see many with what looks like Predator markings on it.

There is a bit of an issue about a company just handing a player some stick and shaft to use. Even a top player will drop his game some when changing shafts. A LD shaft would change your aiming point on many shots by quite a bit, and will take some time to adjust. Who would want to ask Archer to endorse their stick, then have him drop his skill level due to that for a few months? Here we have a #1 player who uses our equipment, which made him drop to be the #10 player, why don't you buy our stuff?

Thank you for the answer. Tony Drago is the first name I have heard but what is a 3/4 shaft? The main point of my post was just out of curiosity. Does SVB or Archer use low deflection? How about Corey Duel?
I know RHN has a few top players using his cues. Do they use LD shafts or his shafts? What is anyone's best guess on the pecentage guys using conventional vs. low deflection?
oliver is mistaken about drago's shaft being 3/4 which means the shaft makes up three quarters of the cue like snooker cues of late drago's is 1/2
