When Willie came to Rockville, MD at a pool room called "Let's Play Games," he did an exhibition like this, signed some black-and-white photos for the fans. When he set up a trick shot, he asked for someone in the audience to shoot it. My friends pushed me forward. I was a Nervous Nellie. Willie told me where to aim, and I did it. I make all the balls on the table in the pockets. Everybody clapped like I was some trick-shot artist.

Nick Varner also came to a pool room in DC called "Babe's. He played anybody in the audience, and if they beat him, they got a red T-shirt that said "I beat Nick Varner." When it was my turn to play him, I was so nervous in front of the crowd, and I couldn't make two balls in a row. It was embarrassing. Chivalry lives with Nick Varner because he deliberately missed shots, about five or six to be exact, until I could sink the winning game ball. I got the T-shirt. Thank you, Nick!
