Corey Duel's sleeve device

Open bridge vs. closed bridge…..Who cares?

It’s like debating wrapless cues vs. linen or leather wrap cues or where you place your grip hand most often.
Doesn’t it really come down to using whatever you like the most? And obviously people like different things.

It is akin to debating which tip hardness is the best to play with or shaft diameter. There is no right, wrong, or
better way unless what you are doing isn’t working to your satisfaction or expectations. I’m old school when
it comes to pool cue designs and if a closed bridge helped either Willie (Moscini & Hoppe) to win all those world championships, I don’t think it should be even slightly demeaned. It worked for the legends so I’ll stick with it.

Pooldawg $20, I never tried it.
There is a video of the Drill Guy using his sleeve on the PoolDawg websit.

From The Sleeve website,

While The Sleeve has been designed to replace the Billiard Glove, it is a valuable tool for the difficult shot; It can be Placed On Top of the Pocket or Metal Around the Pocket, Masse, Jump, or every shot.

The Sleeve has been precision engineered to achieve the least static and dynamic frictional coefficients against hardwood cue shafts. With the two different size bands included, it is also adjustable to accommodate a range of shaft diameters 12 mm and larger as well as various shaft tapers.

For Best Results:

  1. Before use, clean your shaft with Billiard Engineering’s QuicSlick™ Shaft Maintenance System or have your cue shaft professionally cleaned. Nothing will slide well on dirt and grime.
  2. Best with 12 mm diameter ferrule and larger.
  3. To maintain the elasticity of the silicone bands, store the Sleeve in your bag with an inserted ½ inch dowel. This will also help keep the inside clean as well.
  4. Practice! It may take a couple of days to get used to.

The Sleeve is different from a glove. A glove doesn't have any grip to place shaft directly on top of pocket to make a hit.

Interesting concept - an open bridge with the shaft held down. Could be a "shorty" sleeve only for that purpose...

Call it a warmer for the stainless steel joint. If anyone asks. 🤷‍♂️ Kind of like having a jump cue in my bag. Or jump cue bridge or butt extension 😉
A Stealth weapon. Ooops a small leak.shrug

The Sleeve is out of stock at the only vendors I could find: PoolDawg and Billiard Engineering (the company that introduced it).

Billiard Engineering is having a 40% off sale ($18 instead of $30) and this may have caused shortage.

Also, when the ball is on the rail, this tube makes those shots more comfortable.... Rail shot is still hard cuz you're only hitting the top third of the ball.... But it's comfortable....

The Sleeve website claims it is best for >=12mm shafts

There are a few Sleeves left. I got one by filling out a contact form on their website. In response, they phoned me hours later on a Sunday and told me they have a few, only a few, in stock. That is service. I got one ordered.

I'm putting it on a 10.5mm shaft and, therefore, may not be that great for most play. I expect it will work well with shaft sitting on the rail.

I lost to a guy in Dayton who used a white napkin. He was an A player, and it sharked me. Not to mention he was simply better than I was. My first Airway tournament. 4th place behind Jason Miller, Gary Spaeth, and Napkin Man. About 70 players on a Tuesday night $5 tournament.
That guy would have been Chucky D.Passed away recently.Good player !

A couple of home made examples, not by me. Suede leather lined with fingers from an old pool glove. Diameter is such if you are using a bridge, just slide the sleeve up on the forearm of the cue.

Nothing new.. someone started selling them like 25 years ago . I tried it and preferred a glove.

I like it. The Sleeve is good to protect the shaft when over a pocket. I got a 10.5mm shaft, however, and The Sleeve is not snug on shaft. Your suggested glove may be better than The Sleeve. I will try to file The Sleeve down to make it snug on the smaller shaft.

A thrift store silk tie can provide multiple sliders at a bargain price. Minimal stitching required.
An inexpensive experiment for any that might want to give it a try.
