Cork Wraps

I prefer wrapless cues as my players, but I have used a cork wrapped Padgett many times. Here are a few pics of my unchalked Padgett with a cork wrap. You absolutely cannot see the seam.

That doesn't make sense to me, but I may be missing something. Here is my reasoning. The reason you'd get a cork wrap is for the comfortable feeling of the cork in your hand. When you put a coating on it, isn't that feel being lost?

There are many different types of cork. The feeling is not the same as if there was no coating on , that is true. But to help it stay clean and not smell of bar smoke , I prefer to have 1 thin coating of a soft epoxy resin. It is a flexible resin, made for fishing rods. The spongy feeling of the cork is still there, and sweaty hands still stick to the handle. So it may look shiny, but still has the uneven feel from the cork.
On my fishing rods I do not coat the handle. But I don't like the smell of smoke through my equipment. Sorry to the smokers . If bars had decent air srcubbers, then I would not need to coat my handle, to stop the smell of smoke. But that is another issue.

Thanks for the great photo's. I like that style of cork wrap/ handle. Is it coated or still a natural finish?

Hi Neil,

I don't notice a finish on the cork and it looks and feels natural, but I am not 100% sure.

I can call Tim and ask him if you need to know!!

guidoorlandi@yahoo.com (cork wrap)

which kind of leather (Ricky Phillippi has a Boars skin, second to none) I have a filipino cue sea snake (slippery). My hands sweat so the linen gets replaced, joss. For a 4 point hustler the ( Cork that guidoorlandicustomcues.com seems like rubber coated. Nice. mark
