Cortland Linen Wrap

It does not resemble any of the different lb. strength Cortland braided fishing lines I’ve seen before.
The twisted strands look different, I.e., larger, than the brown CL linen in my previously posted pics.
Perhaps someone else can state with certainty but seeing the wrap in person does make a difference.

I have leather wraps on 2 of my cues and I don’t really care for it that much.
I think cork is great but it won’t last decades like CL. My Runde Schon is
40 years old and the CL #9 wrap is still in amazing condition. If I can’t use
CL, which would undoubtedly be the most expensive wrap if you could find
any, I’d probably go wrapless and use a segmented handle. I have a Nordic
theme in mind for a design and that would work better than a cue with a wrap.

FYI, the folks at Pechauer told me a few years ago they purchased all the remaining stock when they went out of business. This was 2018, and I don't know if they still have any or not...

Seth,

Should be 4140 Velp Ave. All comes up to the office here so no need to have anyone’s attention.

The Cortland wrap was the original wrap that was used on the Balabushka cues. Once they stopped making them we bought out all the remaining wrap. They also make a white with black spec Cortland. It’s not the one people are used to, but it’s the same wrap.

I’ll see what they cue looks like here, maybe give you an opinion then.

The black and white speck is impossible to find. I started a search in 2015 and 2016 because I needed white with black speck for two cues underway with Bob Owen and Jerry Rauenzahn. Neither could locate any and I tried everywhere and posted in Az offering a bounty for any referrals. I said I’d pay $250-$300 for 50 yds. & it was more than 10 yrs ago.

Never could find any so I had Jerry use CL#9 for his cue and CL#9 was the wrong wrap for Bob’s cue design so I used gray elephant belly as the wrap which is smoother than elephant ear. Cortland Linen is on 5 of my cues and hard to find but the black speck version is the most challenging version CL to locate…….expect to pay a lot of $ too.
